If visitors leave comments on this site, WordPress (which powers the site) collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service on WordPress.
If comments are enabled, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded Third-party Content
This site may include embedded content such as third-party videos, images, or widgets/plug-ins like social media galleries. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Email address: if you have subscribed to The Inconstant Gardener newsletter, your email address remains in The Inconstant Gardener mailing list on Mailchimp until you unsubscribe, or the newsletter is retired – whichever is earlier.
Comments: if comments are enabled and you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so WordPress can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Your Data Rights
Email address: if you have subscribed to The Inconstant Gardener newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ button in the footer of The Inconstant Gardener emails. This removes your email address data from the mailing list.
Comments: if these are enabled and you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data this site or WordPress are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
